Birthday Cards Convey Special Greetings from the Heart

Birthday cards are extremely important items. They are convenient and affordable; more importantly, they carry special greetings from loved ones that can be kept and treasured for many years to come. Every birthday card carries valuable sentiments of past birthdays and great times shared with loved ones.
How Birthday Greetings Started
Thanks to the printing technology, sending written greetings to loved ones has taken root in our tradition for more than a century. Greeting cards were historically used to express a person’s well wishes during one’s absence at a certain celebration. However, due to the increasing importance of printed texts, sending birthday greetings in the form of cards gradually began to be perceived as an accepted social etiquette and custom in almost every culture in the world.
In the last two decades, the culture of sending birthday greetings has flourished thanks to the advancement of digital technology and the internet. For example, senders can now design their happy birthday wishes in personalized cards as well as send e-cards to friends and loved ones who live miles away within a matter of minutes.
Cards are specially designed Birthday Gifts
A birthday card is more than just a customary obligation. Birthday cards are unique birthday gifts in themselves. Today, one can find cards that are carefully worded and designed for children, teenagers, adults and seniors alike. Various themes, colors, designs and wordings are specially customized to the birthday person, whether he or she is 7, 17 or 70.
There are also birthday cards specially designed for people with different interests, religious affiliations and personalities. For example, cards may carry humorous birthday greetings or may have religious themes or sports themes. A birthday card is often handpicked for a loved one to make him or her feel appreciated and special.
A birthday card speaks volumes, not only about the person receiving the card but also about the sender. Personalized printed happy birthday wishes are unique birthday gifts. Senders may spend time and effort to put into words their heartfelt wishes in their cards solely because of their appreciation for the person they are sending the cards to. It also requires a considerable degree of thoughtfulness on the part of the sender to understand a loved one’s interest and personal preferences.
Happy birthday wishes in cards are meaningful to those who receive them as they may be from friends living thousands of miles away or from a loved one who is not able to attend a birthday celebration due to an official assignment. Cards are unique birthday gifts that reflect the sincere thoughtfulness of friends and loved ones and are treasured reminders of valued relationships during one’s birthday.

Birthday Paper Cards - Use Creativity to Hand-Make a Birthday Card

Use Creativity to Hand-Make a Birthday Card

For many celebrants, the drive to the birthday party involves a quick stop at the drug store to buy a printed card. With a signature scrawled on the inside, it is presented to the honoree almost as an afterthought. To truly impress, a hand-made card can express more personal sentiments and show just how much you regard the recipient.

To make a good looking birthday card, realize that there are several different styles of card you can design. For those gifted with drawing ability, colored pencils or gel pens may be all you need. If you're handy with scissors, consider a pack of construction paper, a glue stick, and perhaps a shape punch tool. Beautiful and intricate graphic designs can be made by the computer-savvy.

No matter what type of card you decide upon, it is best to begin with a medium to heavy-weight card stock. Be sure not to choose a glossy paper, as it will resist both ink and glue. Be sure to make a very light pencil-stroke down the middle of the page, to show where the card will be folded. This will provide a visual marker so that the card can be designed without having to wear a fold in it until it is completed. To make your task easier, consider working on only one side of the paper at a time to avoid smudges or smearing.

To hand-draw a card wishing a happy birthday, consider plotting out what you would like to say on a separate sheet of identical-size paper using a pencil. This will allow you to erase and re-draw until you are satisfied with the result. You can then copy cleanly onto the card stock in inks, colored pencils, or watercolors.

If you're using paper-craft, it is best to lay out the pieces you've cut before gluing any down. With everything free, you can move the elements around until you are satisfied. Remember to use glue very sparingly to avoid wrinkling. Be sure to allow one side of the card stock to dry overnight before beginning work on the opposite side.

For graphic designers, the card can be designed using Paint or other graphic manipulation software. Be sure the color cartridge of your printer is prepared to handle the design. Allow the card to dry for at least an hour before folding it and placing it in an envelope.

No matter which method you employ, a hand-made happy birthday card is the perfect compliment to present at the party.

Birthday cards are bought at retail, printed with your computer, or hand made.
The nice thing about paper cards is you can save them and re read them even years later.  Taking the time to shop for the most meaningful card says you really care.
Perhaps it is a throwback to childhood and feeling excited when the mailman delivered something bearing just your name. Not your parents' names, not your brother's or sister's name beside yours, but your name alone! Different than any other time of year, the envelope and its contents arrived in recognition of that all-important day, your birthday. The fact that a piece of mail was uniquely yours might even have been more important than the birthday greetings inside. Just the same, the idea that happy wishes just for you made their way to the family mailbox was special. Additional fun came from counting how many "Happy Birthday" cards came your way.

Not a child any longer and increasingly accustomed to the postman delivering bills and advertising almost always in your name, it might be even be more appealing now to receive birthday greetings by mail. Furthermore, it's interesting to observe who remembered to send birthday wishes your way via the traditional route of buying/sending a tangible card instead of an e-card or note. With today's hectic pace, that might also signify more than trivial gifts purchased by others on last-minute guilty impulse.

Moreover, for many adults removed by distance from close family and friends, birthday quotes in cards that can be displayed around one's home are a reminder that, even without a party and gifts, what matters most is the thought. A birthday is the perfect time to let someone know they're thought about, especially across the miles. And a card saying "Happy Birthday" is far more personal than something sent electronically. With computers related to work or a significant part of the “daily grind,” birthday quotes viewed on-screen aren't as memorable.
One significant characteristic of currently available birthday greetings is their variety. Musical or talking messages, and inspirational, arty, or hilarious birthday wishes with pop-out visuals and designs for every imaginable lifestyle await being sent in equally interesting envelopes. Tall and thin, tiny, or beautifully fashioned, each card represents the sender's personal intent. With the addition of a photo or handwritten note, the birthday quotes become even more momentous.
So who needs a party when it's so much fun to receive birthday cards in the mail? Perhaps the old tradition of sending and receiving greetings to commemorate yet another year's passing endures for a reason. It is why you love receiving cards in the mail, treasures to be held in hand and close to the heart. Displayed as a tribute to you and only you, they can be easily kept with no chance of deletion, a reminder of those who cared enough to send them. Accordingly, one will likely feel inspired to remember others on their special day too, via nothing less than the mail!
